New Dates for 9th EfCCNa Congress

In the beginning of the New Year 2021 EfCCNa members and critical care colleagues - according to our original plan - would normally be in the pleasant anticipation of celebrating the 9th EfCCNa Congress in February in Utrecht, the Netherlands. But the SARS-CoV2 pandemic forced us already in mid 2020 to postpone the date of this event to September 2021. We were positive at that time that then the situation will have improved.
Now, in January 2021, our daily life is still determined by the virus. The situation remains to be uncertain and nearly unpredictable.
Thus, as first Congress deadlines with financial implications for the federation are approaching fast, we from EfCCNa have come to the conclusion to change the Congress dates again to March 23 -26, 2022. We count on your understanding for this hard decision.
We strongly hope for better times in 2022 and that we can meet again for a Congress in the well-proven manner in order to ‘working together and achieving more’!

EfCCNa Newsletter 2/2020 online

2020 - a year of mulitple challenges, especially for Critical Care Nurses around the globe. The World Health Assembly has designated 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife and meanwhile SARS-CoV-2  has set a huge pressure to the health care systems of more or less all continents.
For EfCCNa, after 20 years of the foundation in 1989, it was again time to renew the performance and visibility of the federation!
In the established tradition of its biannual newsletters, EfCCNa continues providing important information regarding the federation itself and developments in critical care nursing in general to its member organisations and interested colleagues via an online newsletter and e-mail campaign.

Thus, we from EfCCNa are proud to send you the first online newsletter and hope you enjoy reading. Click here for the edition

Nurses Responsibilities on Providing Enteral Nutrition to the Critically Ill Patient - EfCCNa Position Paper

In ICU, one of the nurse's roles is to ensure proper nutrition support to facilitate their recovery. However, few nutrition protocols for nurses are found. The European federation of Critical Care Nursing associations (EfCCNa) position statement provides ICU nurses with evidenced guidelines regarding caring for critically ill patients with enteral nutrition support.

Find the Research Article in  Connect: The World of Critical Care Nursing; Vol 12 Issue3, DOI:10.1891/1748-6254.12.3.86

The Position Statement is published on the EfCCNa website, you will find it under 'Publications'

Prevalence, associated factors and outcomes of pressure injuries in adult intensive care unit patients: the DecubICUs study

Intensive care unit (ICU) patients are particularly susceptible to developing pressure injuries. Epidemiologic data is however unavailable. We aimed to provide an international picture of the extent of pressure injuries and factors associated with ICU-acquired pressure injuries in adult ICU patients.

We are happy to announce that the first article of the DecubICUs project is now online in Intensive Care Medicine. You can access the full article here
