Norway's new Representative in the EfCCNa Council

My name is Julie Berntsen from Norway. I am a member of the National Board of the Norwegian association of Critical Care nurses. I have been a registered nurse since 2015 and have worked at the ICU in Diakonhjemmet hospital in Oslo for the last 5 years.

I received my masters in advanced practice critical care nursing with my thesis “Building the hemodynamic puzzle - The experienced critical care nurses’ surveillance process with the septic critical care patient.”

I look forward to working with EfCCNa in supporting, highlighting and strengthening the critical care nurses’ role in Europe.

Empathy and Solidarity with Critical Care Nursing Colleagues and all heathcare workers in Israel and Gaza.

The European federation of Critical Care Nurses associations wants to take a moment to express its deepest empathy and unwavering support for our colleagues in Israel and Gaza, who are currently working under the difficult conditions of war.

As healthcare professionals, we understand the immense pressure, emotional toll, and physical demands that come with providing critical care, even in the most peaceful of circumstances. However, the added burden of doing so in the midst of conflict is something that most of us can only imagine.

We want you to know that we stand with you, united in solidarity across borders during these challenging times. Our thoughts are with you and your patients and all affected human beings in your area, and we hope for a quick and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

With heartfelt empathy and solidarity

Try the experience of exchange

I am a nurse in the polytrauma ICU of the Hospital 12 de Octubre in Madrid. My visit to Cyprus was scheduled before the pandemic, so when I was contacted again, I was overjoyed.
I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to see a healthcare system from the inside. Jelena facilitated all the conversations with the coordinator in Cyprus (Maria Foka) to whom I am eternally grateful. My experience at the Nicosia General Hospital starts from the 22nd to the 28th of May. From the very first minute I was given a tour of the different ICUs so that my colleagues could get to know me and get to know me.

Exchange Programme - from the Republic of Cyprus to Sweden

’So much of who we are is where we have been’’ once said by William Langewiesche. With this quote I would like to start this brief report of how my experience at the Karolinska University Hospital affected my mindset, emotional intelligence and knowledge. Through the Erasmus learning program and the valuable help of EfCCNa I was able to travel to Stockholm at the Karolinska University Hospital from 15. 5 - 23. 5. 23.
